Documentation
Overview
Quayside is a real-estate theme for Shopify. Each property listing is a product. The theme ships with two style presets: Quayside and Marlow.
Install and set up
- In Shopify admin, add the theme from your library or the Theme Store.
- Choose the preset you want: Quayside or Marlow.
- Set up navigation menus in the theme editor so buyers can reach listings, neighbourhoods, and key pages.
Add a listing
Create a product for each property. Add these product metafields:
- custom.beds — number of bedrooms
- custom.baths — number of bathrooms
- custom.area — floor area
- custom.location — location label
- custom.status — listing status (for example available or sold)
Tag a product with enquire-only to hide buy buttons and show the enquiry form instead.
Neighbourhoods
Use Shopify collections for neighbourhoods. Assign listings to the collections that match each area you want to highlight.
Filters
Bed and bath filters run in the visitor's browser. Active values stay in the URL as ?beds= and &baths=.
You can also turn on filters from Shopify Search & Discovery in admin if you prefer store-managed filtering.
Mortgage calculator
Use the page template mortgage for a standalone calculator page. Listing pages include a calculator block as well.
Shoppers enter deposit, interest rate, and term. Results are estimates only—not financial advice or a binding quote.
Compare and saved listings
Compare and saved listings are stored only in the visitor's browser. No customer account is required and nothing is synced to your store backend.
Use the page template saved for a dedicated saved-listings page.
Free valuation and contact pages
Assign the valuation template for a free valuation page and the contact template for a contact page. Configure copy and forms in the theme editor.
Home page sections
The home page supports sections including:
- Hero with property search
- Featured homes
- Neighbourhood grid
- Agent profile
- Testimonials
- FAQ
- Map
- Countdown banner — set the target date in the section settings
Languages
Six locales are included. Translations were generated by machine and should be reviewed and adjusted in the theme language editor before you rely on them in production.
Troubleshooting and FAQ
- Listings look wrong on the storefront — Check that metafields use the
custom.namespace and that products are published to the Online Store sales channel. - Buy button still shows on an enquiry listing — Confirm the product has the enquire-only tag and that you saved the product.
- Bed or bath filters do nothing — Filters need matching metafield values. Clear URL parameters and try again.
- Saved or compare list is empty on another device — That data stays in the browser only; it does not follow the shopper across devices or browsers.
- Mortgage numbers seem off — The calculator gives rough estimates. Shoppers should confirm terms with a lender.
